Cybervision 64 clarification
« on: September 18, 2006, 05:22:56 PM »
I understood that the Cybervision 64 is the following will fit in the A3000, as all the hardware boards state.

The one point on confusion, which does not seem to be clear is the use of the scan doubler/vga pass through.

1) Let me first explain what I understand it is: that I can pass the native Amiga signal through the card and output to a single VGA monitor -- no need for a second monitor: this is what I understand as being a scan doubler, which I refer to as a pass through --am I correct on this first point?

2) I hear that the A3000 cannot use a scan doubler. I also hear that the A3000 does support the native video pas through using the Cybervision, just not the cybervision 64.

Please help this confused soul.

Thanks,
S

There is no plain CyberVision. There are the CyberVision64, CyberVision64/3D and CyberVisionPPC as far as I know.

The CyberVision64 has a monitor pass through; you can connect the Amiga chipset video to the card. The card can switch between CyberVision64 screens and native Amiga chipset screens. The card doesn't scandouble though. But that's not a problem for you as the Amiga 3000 has a scandoubler already. Just connect the Amiga video to the CyberVision64 and you should be set.

Thanks Flashlab. I was mixing up the term scan double with pass through.

I am looking forward to a high res workbench -- just trying to convince this guy to sell one that does not even have an A3000!

@ sydates

Didn't you have a CyberVision 64/3D? I remember a post about your eBay auction?

I did, but it only had one vga port -- there was no pass through. The 64/3D does not support pass through, only the older 64 does.

I have four computers on my desk and monitor space is prescious, can't have one computer using two monitors -- hard on the neck too.

64/3D has an additional scandoubler module that might have passthrough you talk about..
