PCMCIA MIDI/Joystick card?
« on: August 15, 2006, 10:28:29 PM »
I know there might need to be drivers made, but is there a chance that a PCMCIA Type-II card that has a Joystick/MIDI port be usable with the Amiga1200's card slot?  Just needing to know since this would make a good alternative to a serial connected MIDI box.

Hi,

I think you've answered your own question:

The card may well be physically compatible with the Amiga's PCMCIA slot, and the Amiga may well be able to supply it with the necessary power and data connections... But without a driver, it's not going to do anything...

The Amiga's PCMCIA slot is 16-bit, so the card would also need to be 16-bit. A 32-bit card would not work. Also as you and Ali both pointed out, a driver would need to be written.
