again LHA

HELP! LHA FILES

I have an amiga 1200, HD internal and external.
A blizzard IV with 64mb.
I had some games, the got screwed and now I want them new.

I look with my PC on the internet at Aminet. He! I can get them there again! Wow! I downloaded the games I want (Syndicated and Pinball) but they have this LHA extention.

I try to transfer them onto a Floppy disk (3,5"). But my Amiga can not read a PC formated disk, neither can my PC (XP-windows) read an Amiga formated disk. D*&$@M!

What did I do wrong? Is there somebody out there who can help me out?

Is there a web-site which can explain to a lamer like me how to get a LHA file from your PC thrue floppydisks onto my Miggy? Which available standard program(s) are/is needed?
Where can I get them? How can I get them?

Thanks Many Thanks !

Is this a problem with the transferring of files or with unpacking .lha files ?

If you want to unpack .lha files on windows, than download winrar. If you want to transfer files with floppys than format a PC disk with 720 Kb. The amiga can than read PC floppys using crossdos or something.

XP can format 720 disks:

Type format a: /t:80 /n:9 in the Command prompt.

You could also format it on the Amiga when you mount pc0:

Not to be rude but you could have your answer faster; You should really use the search funtion on the forum; all this has been covered numerous times.

Be carefull. Most PC floppy drives now are only used for reading disks, not writing. Therefore, the quality of said disk drives is not very good!

I suggest formatting a 720k disk on the Amiga using a program like Dos-2-Dos or the like then just copy the file to the disk on the PC.

Better yet, setup "Parnet" between both PC and Amiga.

well something has got to write them. I think they're OK, when compared to 20 year old Amiga FDD, even though some might argue that they are "too cheap" etc..
Better sorry than worry.

To UnLHA a file you'll need LHA on your Amiga.  To pack them on your PC use LHAnt which follows the same command line syntax as the Amiga version of LHA.

To extract an LHA file on the Amiga:
lha x filename.lha drive:path/

Be sure to include that last slash after the path unless you are unpacking to the root directory of a disk becuase in that case the colon will do fine.

OK, installed succesfully LHa on the Miggy.
Now I need the RTFM instructions.
Which character do I need, to see the list with all possible extentions/parameter?

On the PC I use to type LHA /?

How does it work with Amiga OS.
SamuraiCrow explained one parameter, but there are more, right?
Silly but true (this quest)

Isn't there a readme file in the unpacked directory?

For unpacking the syntax SamuraiCrow listed will do fine though...

Just checked and when you just "lha" with nothing added you'll get a help text with every option explained!

Why not use Wizarc on your AMIGA? It´s plain easy and doesn´t need any command-line command.
