Digital Universe + Scandoubler Problems
« on: August 06, 2006, 05:49:02 PM »
Hey guys, I just purchased Digital Universe and it installs fine. When I try to launch it, my monitor tells me that that screenmode is out of sync. I'm running a scandoubler on a monitor that does 30Khz. Anyone know of a way to get this working.. change the screenmode.. etc?

You could try the ScreenManager functions in MCP, it can do most things.

Whats that? I told the computer to use ECS at the early boot menu, it works, I guess theres a compatibility problem with AGA then :(

probably the DU runs at a high resolution as default and your job is to find a way to lower it. search for a .prefs or a configuration file of DU at its folder or at env: or at s: dir and rename it. run DU and if you can change the screen mode.

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

I've never run DU on an AGA machine.  On my set-up, all of the available screen modes (NTSC and Picasso) show up in the Screen mode prefs menu.  The fact that it runs in retargetable graphic modes makes it easier on the eyes than Distant Suns (still fun).  It's hard to imagine it will not run in AGA modes.

This is one of my all time favorite programs and not a port from another platform, it utilizes the system resources well.

Glad to see someone else finding it.  Did you buy it used or from the author?

Well I got it new... they have online distributation. I think it was something like $15!! Well, it only wants to run when I put the 'miga into ECS mode at Early Startup.  I tried PAL, NTSC, MultiSync and Default Monitor, rebooted and tried to run it in AGA. No go. I emailed the company... looks like a cool app!
