What's an Amiga 3000D worth?
« on: July 31, 2006, 10:35:57 PM »
I'm undecided if I want to part with my A3000D, but I'm on my quest to get some sort of accelerator for my 4000T - having 18MB is just too limiting for me :)  It's not even about the speed, though a boost would be nice.

The 3000 Specs are:

030/25Mhz, 18MB RAM (hey, I put all those stupid ZIPS in there, that should be worth something :))
4GB SCSI drive
No keyboard/mouse unless you want an old beatup A3000 keyboard and mouse.

and a ermm.. 'custom' paint job.  Okay, the thing was just too yellow for me to keep that way so it was painted.  Heck, it looks just like this:  http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=1144=11 :)

I've replaced the original SCSI controller chip on there with an updated one, and I have the Kickstart 3.1 chips sitting and waiting to go into it.  I didn't have good luck with using KS 3.1 with the current SCSI drive so I gave up.  There's no battery leakage on the board and of course, the battery isn't in there.

Hi,

I don't think most people will appreciate the custom paint job, but the updated chips should help the price a little.  I was thinking you should be able to get between $250 and $400 on eBay.  Make sure you point out that the 3.1 ROMs and the version number on the SCSI chip too.

Good luck!

I agree, the paint job is not my style, but you're right, the updates should warrant at least $300.  I also think that installing all those zips should be worth something for the labor!  I had to do the same thing several months ago!

I'm sure of one thing, I'm not parting with my A3000...

I`d say something just below 100 EUR. The ZIP-Chips and the 3.1 saves it from getting less.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

In the UK I've seen them go for between £50 and £100, depending on how many people there were bidding. Personally I quite like the paint job, but it may knock the value a little.
No keyboard or mouse could put quite few people off so i would recommend trying to clean up the keyboard and mouse if possible. It's better to sell a complete working system than leave the buyer to find the missing bits.

If it's maximum money you're after you might be able to get more if you took some of the ZIPs out and sold them separately.

In today's market $75 - $150 on eBay.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Thanks for the comments - at ~$150, it's worth more to me even if I'm not using it.  You can never have too many spare miggies around.  The keyboard that I got for it originally was in horrible condition, and I ended up getting a Lyra PS2 adapter for it (which is now on my 4000).

Yeah, that was my thought on it, too, and why I still have both my A3000s.  Everyone says they want 'em and they bring big bucks, blah blah... And then when it comes time for someone in North America to PAY for one, suddenly those big bucks disappear.  ;-)

I agree with Redrumloa -- $75-150.
