One interesting solution: OS4 goes open source. In that way, the die-hard 680x0 users have at least the chance of port OS4 to 680x0 hardware. I dont really know, but it would be very interesting to make a survey in this forum and really know the % of die-hard classic 680x0 users.

I think AROS/MorphOS/WinUAE/Amithlon/A1/Pegasos users are 2nd class users, not really "die-hards". The old amiga spirit are kept by 680x0 users. That's what i think.

Regards.

2nd class? What are you smoking?

I own:
1x A500 with Zorro Slots SCSIHD Flickfixer (Kick 1.3 and 2.04)
2x A1000's with FF,SCSIHD ect
1x A3000 MAXED with 040,Z3,AD1012,Framegrabber,DCTV,Kick3.9
A4000 CSMK1 040@40MHz,64megRAM,AD512,CV64-3D,Kick3.9
A4000 CSPPC233MHz,83megRam,AD512,PicassoIV,Kick3.9
Pegasos I with April 2 fix 512megRAM/VooDoo3 3500

This doesn't include what I've sold in the past and other Hardware I own, to say nothing of the 8bit collection I have from Commodore!
If Commodore was still around and the Latest model of the Amiga was the same a the Pegasos and you bought one, would you like other Amiga users that still have A4000's and such to call you 2nd class? Get real, I was using Commodore computers in 1980 and ran a BBS for Commodore USER for FREE ,many many years, 2nd class?? 2nd class?? I've spent $1000 and $1000 on Commodore E.Q. thats not DIE HARD enough? I even owned CBM Stock in the late 80's, I was the Secretary and Treasure of the Greenville Amiga Users Group! I Beta Tested WB 2.04!
If anyones 2nd class its you for even opening your pie hole.
 Your warp!

What's the point of porting OS4 to 680x0 - it will be slow. 680x0 is no more developed for at least a decade and the fastest 680x0 board on sale was 68060/50MHz which you can overclock with some cooling skills to 80MHz max, but that still will perform poorer than 150MHz 603e, so what's the point in porting AmigaOS 4 to 680x0? Ok there is now ColdFire - which is faster than 68K, so OS 4 can be ported to it, but how many ColdFire boards are sold - none.
At the begining the PPC architecture (and the other RISC CPU) was advertised as faster for less money, but this is no more true - the PPC machines are now more expensive.
