I know you all don't have my stuff memorized, lol - But this A2k unit (which has stirred me up this past year on and off again) and I are not 'meshing'.  It was bought at a yardsale from someone who toastered with it (sold or kept the toaster card though, lol)..

Problem is, among many, the boot priority editing utility apparantely wasn't important enough for him to keep.  In the packs of disks there's only ONE hardware related disk, simply labeled "Expansion Systems BASEBOARD Boot disk".  It's  not a GVP install / utility disk, lol :(  There is a GVP drawer, but 90% of the icons point to the missing floppy.

I would like to remove the hard drive (and not wipe it, to preserve what he already had on it) and pop one of my SCSI's into it, and start from scratch. Problem is, I am short a great many disks, possibly.  I don't recall exactly, but there are at least 4 addon cards in it.  How can I get these installs/utility discs?

Also, not to make this post too confusing, but what do those of you with A2k's have as far as ROMs?  Mine is currently 1.3 (My Ami500 has 2.x, was thinking of moving it over, but decided against that).  Would it run better with the 2.x or should I get the 3.x instead?  Also, what places are reputable and recommended for chips?  I could ebay, yeah, but somehow, with all the different Ami versions out there, that just seems like a big crap shoot.

try to identify what cards are installed and check here http://amiga.resource.cx/ here
http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ and a search engine and you'll have a good chance of finding the software you need

and if you need any utilities to work with disk images or archives on the Amiga just look on aminet

That Vesalia website is 'trusted', IE you or others here have bought stuff?  Wow if so..  Chips are much cheaper than I thought, lol :)

I'll have to write down or look up on here again what the A2k has inside.  Didn't think doing a net search would turn up that kind of stuff, but worth the try!

Yes of course it is.. as anyone else here will verify. I bought the exact same ROM from them, also some other inexpensive stuff. I gotta admit , those Germans are highly efficient.
 :-)

Better sorry than worry.
