I have checked this site several times before signing up.   I'm just a regular computer (hardware) hacker (not in a bad way). Over the years I have owned and operated many Amiga from the 500 to the 4k! (and I still don’t know anything or can’t remember….) I got hooked on amigas in the 80's while I lived in Germany, MAN what a scene that was. Anyway.... It got me into 3D animation and has given me a chance to develop some very good commercial/artistic skill.  I spent my youth with this technology. I also collect SGI/IRIX gear, as that was the next platform for me. I like to keep my computers working!  Right now I'm trying to get all my gear in order, this includes a 3000(d) and a 4000(d).  My current quest has to do with CV64 and mkII 060's, and how to work them both at the same time and such.  I have a network card and have taken the miggies out of a stroll on the "information super highway" but could not a get a browser worth the hassle.  (that was before I got the CV64) Any ideas?  Just happy to find Amiga people in 2006!

It may require AmigaOS3.9 or AmigaOS3.x+ClassAct


I guess you already have your Cybervision64 working but if you haven't check out Picasso96

I recommend you with that config the use of a Mac emulator
like fusion or shapeshifter to surf the web cause the AMiga browsers are horribles,disasters...I can't find the correct word

Well the best way is install MACOS 8 on fusion for example and surf thw web using Netscape there
you have a fast turboboard and a gfx card and speed will be good

Err, wouldn't running a emulator, then trying to run a webbrowser strain an already power challenged Amiga?

Just try Aweb and then try IBrowse..

Also install AFA OS, for antialiazing fonts (wich really looks great, and doesnt take much cpu..)

Mac 68k web browsers (Explorer and Netscape) usually suck. They are usually far slower than AmigaOS ones (and don't support CSS anyway).

I would try out iCab if I wanted to run a MacOS 68k web browser...


Anyway the fun of using an Amiga is using AmigaOS software.

BTW, MacOS 8 is slower than 7.5.x and doesn't offer much more... it's a waste of cpu and memory. MacOS 7.5.x works much better (060s included).

hmmm, I have to agree with laser on this, I have tried ibrows and aweb and as much as I love my amigas, that software does not help! If you can't load yahoo mail or go on ebay it ain't a browser! I have plenty of great amiga software, Imagine, lightwave, toaster, flyers, dpaint... the list goes on. I have never tried mac emulation but it sounds fun!  I use emulators on the the PC right?  I even remember the emulating the c64 on my amiga years ago.  Can amybody else remember how the c128 had a c64 mode?  So whats the best mac emulator and what do it need to do it?  Also right now im focused on the mkII/cv64 issue, I have a post in the hardware section about that if you have experience with those products, let me know...

the best emulator is fusion but is not freeware and is very expensive if you want to buy it

Shape shifter is the best option...is free..however it not support virtual memory like fusion..but that's not a problem if you have 32mb or 16
get it on aminet

you need of course a mac rom..you can find it easy on the web.......and you need of course a mac OS disc installation
or you can find on the web a hardfile with all installed
I recommend mac os8 but like says Crumb...mac os 7 is another choice with minor requirements of memory

then you need to configure mac os to go online
and of course a browser
