Returning to the Amiga
« on: July 06, 2006, 08:38:41 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I haven't really been using an amiga for a good while now. About 4 or 5 years ago I managed to blow up my good amiga, a quite nice towered a1200 with 030, flickerfixer, OS3.5. I was left using my other a1200 with a dodgy ram expansion that made it crash randomly :(. i didn't really have the money for replacement parts so my amigas have lain dormant.

Anyhow recently I got an 030 accelerator off ebay for a reasonable price and now have my a1200 back up and running again, networked as well, yay!
I'm now looking to get my other amigas going again as well, an a1000 (need to find space for it!) and an a4000 with broken ide (any ideas?).

cheers,
Pete

The A4000 with broken IDE is an easy one :)

Get an Elbox FastATA Z3... fast bootable IDE interface...
Failing that a Buddha IDE Zorro 2... Nice card, but a bit slower...

A1000.. another easy one.. send it to me.. I have space ;)
Back to action!

Glad that you got the Amiga working back up again.

Its been a really long time since I have used my Amiga 1200 since now I dont have an accelerator card for it.

Eventually I want to get it going again.  For now, I just use WinUAE when I need it.

For the most part, it feels nice being on an Amiga.  :-D

It's nice to see more people return. I came back a month or so ago, even though I don't have any Amigas up and running, I'm getting up to speed as much as possible while I work on the ones I have to get them ready to use.

There are usually plenty of Z2/3 SCSI adapters on eBay as well for that A4k. I use a GVP Impact II 4000HC+8 in mine... Gives me that extra 8M of memory, and more drive expansion capabilities. Cheap too.

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

@pedro7

Welcome.   I have been here about 2 years now, and I currently own one A1200 and I am in the process of aquiring another A1200 and a A2000.

I have found this community to be very helpful and hope you enjoy the resource as much as I do.

Should you need parts -- you can always post a wanted in the Amiga on Ebay forum, or buy it from Amigakit -- he has been very helpful to me.  Fast delivery on my 3.1 ROMS too :-)

@Everyone

Thanks for your help personally for me!  You all may not hear that often ;-)
