A4000T Motherboard For Sale
« on: June 22, 2006, 06:34:09 PM »
All,

I will finally list my remaining A4000T motherboard (Escom "green board" production) tomorrow (Friday, GMT -6).

This is a working "pull" from the system I have been using for several years and I am finally moving on.  The board has given me absolutely no problems.

I'm debating whether or not to include the tower case it is mounted in (aftermarket case for use with video toaster / flyer) or sell separately.

NOTE:  There are NO daughter boards included...just the motherboard.  The daughter boards have already been sold.

Look for the sale no later then 7:00pm CDT tomorrow.

EDIT: I will add a link here when the auction begins.  I can be found on ebay as ltstanfo.

Regards,
Ltstanfo

I can't get to Ebay from work here, but I have an A4000d Toaster system that I'm considering putting into a Tower to get a flyer and video card installed.

Can you cut and paste the specs here?

Please PM me if you have other parts that might be of use that you haven't put on Ebay yet.

I also might be interested in the Tower case as well. (Could it be used with the A4000d motherboard? Will my daughterboard work on the A4000t mobo?

Lastly, the A4000t motherboard has 2 video slots right?

@ltstanfo

Without the Audio/Video module (or whatever it's called), it won't be possible to use AGA without a gfx card with flicker fixer. You should've kept that one as it's probably hard to get and will cut off some potential buyers.

Jose,

What you say is true but AGA was never a concern for me.  I rarely used it (maybe when I first purchased my A4000T). I was using the Toaster /  Flyer for my video out.  When I got away from the Toaster, I used a Picasso IV.  AGA was a great idea back in the day but by the time it was released, it was already obsolete.

So, no loss for me (you will get far more $$ by parting out an AMIGA then selling whole) and probably not a loss for anyone needing a spare A4000T board...or anyone who will use a Picasso IV or Cybervision.   :-)

1. The tower case I am using was designed for use by Toaster / Flyer users and marketed by Safe Harbor back in the early 2000.  It was a common case for both A4000D and T owners but due to differences in motherboard dimensions, the attach points were not in the same location.  It has a fantastic 600W power supply so it easily powers anything you can put in the case.  It is a GIANT, full sized, AT form factor case.

2.  The A4000D daughterboard is not compatible with the A4000T.

3.  Yes, the A4000T motherboard has two video slots.

@ ltstanfo

Are all three daughter boards missing? I ask this because I got replacement AV modules and disk modules from Vesalia, but I could not get a spare ports module. IMHO those daughter boards are inclusive in an A4000T mobo and should not have been sold separately.

Without the daughter boards you have lost the following features:

AV module:

Video out
Audio out L + R RCA
Audio out (headphone)

Disks module:

External SCSI connector
SCSI Dip Switches
Internal SCSI header
Floppy drive header

Ports module:

Parallel port
Serial port
Joystick port
Mouse port
Internal SCSI terminator (not a big deal though)

I don't know if the machine will even boot without those daughter boards...can anyone here remember what happens without those?

I will still bid on it, but a new user should make sure he can definitely get the daughter boards BEFORE he bids on it.

X-Ray,

Your concerns are both correct and valid but unless you are building a stock A4000T, there is no problem.

Video can be replaced by graphics card (ie Picasso IV, Cybervision, etc...)

Audio can be replaced by sound card (Delphina, AD516, etc... using either AHI or card provided software)

SCSI can be provided by accelerator card or SCSI card (Cyberstorm II or III, etc...)

Floppy can be provided by Catweasel and Catweasel II (add a Game and Keyboard by using Catweasel III)

I/O (ports - serial and parallel) can be replaced by Multiface or similar

** Everything I have listed above is far more capable than the stock features missing due to the lack of the daughtercards **

The big concern from my standpoint is what version of software you plan on using.  WB3.1 should be the MINIMUM / oldest version used as all the cards I have listed above had drivers written under 3.1.  If you use WB3.9 then alot of the drivers are included.

I'm not trying to sell a "bare bones" A4000T system but a functional motherboard that can be used for spares (using your existing daughtercards) or building an advanced system.  I will be clarifying such when I list the board tomorrow.  I have no desire to rip anyone off

Thanks for your post.

Can the attach points be modified to fit a Desktop 4k? (And are you indeed listing it with the 4kT?)

After doing a little more checking on the tower case I need to make some clarifications.

1.  I do NOT believe that the case will readily support the installation of an A4000D motherboard.  The holes in the tower case (to attach the motherboard) are drilled for an A4000T motherboard.  Likewise, the backplane / back panel on the case is lined up for an A4000T motherboard.  I do not recommend purchasing this case unless you have an A4000T motherboard.
2.  The tower kit was offered by DVS (Digital Video Solutions) and not Safe Harbor as I previously posted.
3.  I have not decided whether or not the case will be sold with the motherbard or not.  Suggestions?

Could you please clarify which daughter boards are missing so we can make an effort to track these down.

Oops...sorry, I thought that had already been discussed.  Yes, all three cards are missing. The two from the mobo and the one that connects to the back of the A4000T case.

The guy who purchased my C= A4000T mobo (since repaired) also bought the C= daughtercards (all three).

Merv,

Please reread the thread above.  If all you have is just an A4000T motherboard (without the three daughter cards) then you do not have access to any ports, except for IDE and keyboard which is on the motherboard (IIRC).  You either need to acquire the three daughtercards or obtain third party cards (see my previous post).

OK... as promised, the links to the ebay auctions are:

A4000T Motherboard

Aftermarket A4000T Case

Both are three day auctions.  If you bid and win, please email me prior to submitting payment.  Shipping costs will likely be expensive, especially for the case, due to packaging dimensions and weight.  Just for comparison purposes the overseas shipment of my C= A4000T case to Germany (via FedEx Economy Air Mail) cost $250 due to weight and dimensions (31 lbs and oversize packaging).  Believe it or not, that was the cheapest rate I could find without doing a surface shipment.

Good luck,
Lee Stanford
