BLIZZARD PPC QUESTION
« on: June 22, 2006, 06:47:56 PM »
Hi! Im sorry if this has been asked before, but, how can i know which proccessor i have on my BPPC cards?
I know they are 040, but would like to know the PPC part.
Is there a program that tells you which PPC you have?

Kind Regards

Seems to me back when I had a BPPC I could hold both mouse buttons down on bootup and get the expansion card info there... It's been quite some time though since I had one.

Use WhichAmiga or Scout from Aminet.

Remove the PPC heatsink and read the specs of the 603e chip which are printed on it. This will tell you what is the REAL speed of your PPC cpu.

Then use WhichAmiga as DoctorQ has suggested to see what your PPC card is clocked to run at. Usually this will be the same as your actual PPC cpu chip speed, but maybe not as sometimes (rarely) Phase 5 and especially DCE (often/always) used to overclock 160Mhz chips to 200 or 210 mhz. :-)

There was a program which shipped with BlizzardPPC cards called PPCTool. It could correctly identify the PPC CPU on the board, but it required one of the latest firmware revisions, and also please note that it won't work under WarpOS.
