héhé  :-D

Some seems to forget that Tulip Computer (Commodore NL) have not any right about " AMIGA ", all licences (Hard & Soft) were sold to Escom, then to Gateway, and to....

As we are in June, I suspect a commercial trainee as the email author...  ;-)

I still wonder if Eyetech would accept any other brand to use OS4, don't they have paid a lot for the OS4 exclusivity ?  :rtfm:
Keep the Faith !

There's a Commodore company again? Who? When? How? What do they do?

Nothing new, the trademark was always around and used for different products, e.g. walkie-talkies, paper shredders, etc.

The current trademark owner (Yeahronimo Media Ventures) bought the rights from Tulip and uses it for labeling MP3-players, music downloads, games, etc.

Enough to get some naive Amiga-kiddies excited about an upcoming Amiga revival.

Ahhh, that's unfortunate. They should let it die.

I seem to recall Dell and Sony being among the interested parties in '94 when Commodore originally went bankrupt and the german courts refused, apparently there was much debt to be paid back so the company that took over needed to be able to run a real computer business.

That got lost somewhere along the way of course.

I think if anything it is possible that Commodore may be discussing licensing some old Amiga technology to use within their Commodore Gaming brand - maybe an Amiga-in-a-joystick.  Amiga was synonymous with a games machine in Europe from 1988-92.  I certainly don't think they'll be wanting to touch anything to do with OS4 or PPC hardware (they seem to have quite good commercial sense).

I dont get why people keep hanging onto the PPC/OS4 bandwagon?

My own expectations of the Amiga future dont stretch much beyond a A500-in-a-stick and even that may be pushing it.

Agreed Lando,

In fact, if they were to partner with any 'Amiga' hardware production at the moment, it would be with MiniMig.

The marketing label of 'Commodore-Amiga' could be very powerful in shifting hardware...

...when we finally get some. Other than MP3 players.

Even though 'we' know it's not the same Commodore-Amiga of old, I think the name still holds weight in the mainstream computing world. It would definitely generate interest. And if there's actually a product (!) to back it up, then, hey, they might have a winner on their hands.

Hypothetically, of course.
