A500 Amiga Forever.
« on: July 02, 2006, 07:00:53 PM »
Hello ive bought amiga forever just to get my hands on the fullversion of Amiga Explorer, well i did as they said at the setup, configured the serial port on the amiga,

then i configured on the PC well what hapend then the
"Type SER: to RAM:Setup" worked fine on the wizard on the pc and i got the file from the pc to the amiga ram but when i where going to install it "RAM:Setup" i got this error, "The file is not an object module" so i tryed to copy it from the ram to a blank disk "COPY RAM:Setup to DF0:" worked fine then when trying to run i tested both "DF0:Setup" and "RUN DF0:Setup" still same error, so i resseted my amiga and inserted another of my WB 1.3 disks and booted with that, then i tryed al from beggining and same crap so i resetted and booted with WB 1.2 and same so now i used my last original WB 1.33 i had and still same so i tryed to write "Type SER: to DF0:Setup" directly but still same error. I need this to work any ideas how to do?

This means the file is corrupt (probably got corrupt during the transmission). Copying it the corrupt file around won't fix it. I'd try again couple of times, maybe it was just some random bit.

Bad serial speed on the PC !
simply try to send a simple file with ASCII, and use more or type to watch the content.
Change your "COMM Setup" to reach the good result.
Keep the Faith !

IIRC AExplorer needs hardware handshaking. Make sure the cable you use has the handshaking lines connected.

Also if the cable is too long or bad quality, the transfer might fail without notice.

Try to reduce the transfer speed.

If you have a program to read PC floppy disks (e.g. MessyDOS, Dos2Dos etc.) you should rather copy the needed files to floppy disk and read it on the Amiga. This is more reliable. Once the AExplorer file is on the Amiga you might have more success because AExplorer does some basic error checking/correction. It might still fail if the cable is bad.

Bye,
Thomas

Well the setup on the ports is same on both pc and amiga and the same as the setup of Aexplorer said, i will try to lower speed but doubth that would work. also how do i see if they are handshaking? and i do not have any of those programs on a a500 WB1.3.3 so can't copy on flopy :( and well the cable is like 30cm long lol :P and if i get the file setup on the amiga but its corupted does that mean that they are connected or is it mabe a file the amiga made but dident get anything from the seriall from the pc?

and Technoid i cant send simp+le ascii files cud the program sends just the setup file before u can send anythiong else to the amiga.
