« on: August 07, 2006, 02:51:01 PM »
Hello all looking for some info.
I have an A1200 with some stuff on I want to print off but I have no printer for it.

I do have a printer which im connected to with a wireless connection from my laptop.
Is it possible to put the files on to the laptop and use Winuae to print the files using the printer i do have??
If so how??

Use CMD to redirect the printer output to a file.

Copy that file to a disk.

Read the disk in the other machine.
:)

That'll only really work if you set up the Amiga with a driver compatible with the printer connected on the other machine. I'd imagine if he had a printer which he had a Workbench driver for he'd just plug the printer in and print. I'd say your best bet would be just to save the files and convert them as you need to print them natively on another machine...

Use some Epson compatible printer driver, and things should be ok on a basic print-job.

You could also save the files you want to print as plain old ascii text, and then import that into your other machine.

Complications arise over fancy-formatting.

You could connect the machines through their serial ports, and then you could transfer a large file.

That'd bethe simplest I reckon alright, but we don't know what types of files they are... Plain text should be fine, word processor documents should be saved as RTF to preserve some of the formatting, and pictures should be fine as JPEG, GIF, PNG or whatever, so long as they're not an Amiga-specific format. Trying to print to files might also create huge print spool files - too big to be transferred by floppy - so transferring the original might be a better solution all round.
