Reaction Problems with Birdie
« on: May 03, 2003, 09:22:27 PM »
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me with a Reaction problem that has been bugging me for ages. Basically, when I run any program it comes up with its GUI all trashed.

Example pic: http://www.cluke.demon.co.uk/problem.png
(Sorry, that file is a bit big - basically, the outlines of the gadgets are not drawing, and there is corruption when scrolling text views)

I worked out it was due to running Birdie. But I know other people manage to run Birdie with OS3.9. (BTW I didn't get this with 3.5)
Now, the weird thing is, if I load the Birdie prefs, and hit Test, Birdie stops and restarts itself - in which case everything works fine from then on! But it is a real pain to have to do this every time I boot...
Anyone recognise this problem and can help?

TIA!

Yes, I do recall having this problem when first installing OS3.9.  There IS a solution...unfortunately, my memory isn't recalling what I did to solve it.

What flags are you calling with Birdie?  Are you using the NOICONBORDER flag?  If so, try birdie without this flag set.

Also are you using Birdie2000 or an older version?
