stupid noob question about icons
« on: May 11, 2006, 07:22:41 PM »
how do I get my icons to automatically display in a grid pattern?  everytime I restart my A1200 with os3.1 the icons are arranged differently. it's the same in my drawers. when I add items to my Work drawer the icons are just a jumbled mess.  I know how to clean it up (A + .)  but what I want to know is if there is a way to keep them that way every time I open the drawer.

Thanks,
AL

First of all, each file must have a corresponding .info file to contain the icon information.  Secondly, you can move the icons to the positions you want them in using drag and drop and the "clean up" icon positions from workbench.  Thirdly you "select all" and select "snapshot" from the icons menu.  Note that they will align the same each time you open the drawer but may not be a grid since AmigaOS supports various sizes of icons.

select the icons you want and from menu icons select: snapshot
or select the icons and press A+S
the same is for windows. select and resize the window and from menu select window/snapshot/window or snapshot/all for the window and the icons in it.
