this is a pic by someone on these forums. it looks like a stadard VGA plugged into some sort of converter in the back of the 600... can it by any type of monitor? (or does it need to be Amiga)

It's just dummy RGB->VGA converter. It has no scandoubler or flicker fixer. The monitor is Multivitec, it can display PAL and NTSC modes out of the box. Regular VGA monitors can't.
