You would be better off gettiong a PC to Amiga mouse adapter form AmigaKit as then you will be able to use any normal mouse available.

The roundish style mouse you speak of came with the A1200 and A4000 series and it the best in my opinion!  Check ebay as I see them on there once in a while.

If you can find one, the A3000 "Pregnant" mouse is the best.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

True - when I bought my A1200 it had that mouse with it - Lovely mouse to use, but as you said, the microswitches were the mucky "value" types. I replaced them as soon as they started getting twitchy, and they've worked nicely ever since :-)

Amigakit have some original Amiga branded mice: AmigaKit´s mouse page

They work better than they look... better quality than the first mouse from amiga tech.(the small, a bit rounded one)
