FPU 40Mhz
« on: April 09, 2006, 12:46:57 PM »
Hi all, where would be the best place to get an 68882 FPU fitting is PGA 40Mhz from?

Its for an Apollo Turbo III 030 accelerator 40Mhz.

It seems there are programs that I am trying to run that require an 68882

TIA,

Mike.

Ohhh hang on a sec, its not PGA is it?  It does not need to be soldered to the board but it fits inside a black small square case that has the small metal strips inside it, thats not PGA is it? rather PLCC am I correct?

Dont want to get the wrong fitting one.

This one?

It's not 40MHz but it's the only PLCC one they've got.

Yes thats the one, it dont actualy matter if its not 40Mhz does it?
I think some where some one used a 33 Mhz FPU with an 40Mhz accelerator.

That would be the PLCC version - only ever released up to 33MHz AFAIK.  I believe only the PGA type was released with 40/50MHz versions.

I stand corrected by the photo - the distributor I bought my 68882rc33 from many years ago was obviously just lying to me :-)  You live and learn.
Mac Mini G4 (1.5GHz, 64MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.6
Powerbook 5.8 (15", 1.67GHz, 128MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.8.

If you want PGA model you need any chip marked as XC68882RC40A or MC68882RC40A (MC  is better because this rev. little "warmless") If PPLC then MC68882FN40A.
