Contracts are made to bring money ... usually...
Not when those making the contracts don't have the first clue about how to run a business. Even how to run one badly. KMOS, sorry, AmigaInc (silly me to bring up that name) are just a shambolic catastrophy of a company and bakruptcy would be a mercy killing for the Amiga name currently being dragged through the mud to make fracking pub games.
Eyetech are quite simply in over their heads trying to supply the hardware, they should have stuck to supplying old Amiga stuff. They will never be able to keep the hardware up to date, A1 is already about half a decade or more out of date - in PC industry terms that's an ice-age or two.
Hyperion have basically finished OS4 but can't or won't release it as final, their reasons are kept close to the chest so to speak, some say it's the lack of hardware, others say they hope to acquire the OS outright by waiting for KM... er, AmigaInc to go bankrupt. I don't know that we'd be better with Hyperion controlling the OS though...
