I finally got my A1200 up and running.  It is nothing more then a stock 1200 at the moment.  I have a Linksys EC2T eithernet PCMCIA card.(it works in my windoze notbook comp)

I found the cnet.device driver that should support this card and have followed the directions to install the driver.  I then found a version 2.2 of AmiTCP on Aminet and have installed it and I am sure I have the net data correct.

My problem is when I reboot,  I get a a window pop up that has a heading:

AmiTCP:bin/ifconfig

Then inside the box it says:

AmiTCP/IP version 2 or later must be started first.

Then at the bottom of the window, it has one button to click labled:

Exit AmiTCP:bin/ifconfig

Did I do something wrong when I installed it?  Any help would be much appreaciated.

If this problem is gone when you do a cold start (switch off/switch on) then the problem is in the PCMCIA bug. There's software on Aminet to resolve this. I believe the name is CardReset. Can also be solved with a hardware hack.

I get that error on cold or warm boot.

Miami sounds like it is a lot easier to set up,  I found a copy of it but have not installed it because I couldnt find MUI 3.8(I think it is)

Could someone point me in the right direction for MUI?

I keep an archive of MUI 3.8 here which is intended to update an existing package, but can just as easily be used to install a full MUI setup with the latest versions of all the relevant custom classes for nearly everything.

For a first time install, you'll need to add some some assigns and stuff to S:user-startup, all the information you need is in the included readme.
Just follow through all the steps in order and it should work.
I'm too lazy to write an installer script, but I'll do it if I get really bored one day.

Demo keyfiles are included which means you can't save an edited config, but at least this will get you going.
You can still register MUI which will get you personal keyfiles.


Else if you buy a CD of OS3.9, you get the Genesis/AmiTCP as part of it.

You'll still probably need MUI in the long run, a lot of apps use it.
