ADF
« on: January 24, 2006, 10:06:09 PM »
Hi all, its been a long long time since I done any ADF files on my Amiga.
But as I am presently running AmiKit 1.03 DopusMegallan
I have some Workbench files such as WB1.3 WB1.3 Extras, WB2.0 and all the others discs that goes with it, and WB3.0 and all discs, and WB3.1 with all discs.
What I need to know is how to get them into ADF format?

The reason is that I want to get other Amiga's running on AmiKit.
Like an A500, A600.
I am of course running A1200 with Roms 3.1 with AmiKit, this is great.
But I want to experiment with the other two A500, and A600.
In the ADF file format.
I have all the rom's 1.2, 1.3, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1

And if any one can point me in the right direction with the A500 and A600 I have trouble getting any kind of HD setup with Amikit setup part.
When I try to setup a HD for the A500 or A600.
TIA,

Mike.

the prog to do the job is the ADF-BLITZER, can make adf's from original disk and disks from an adf file
http://de4.aminet.net/disk/misc/adfblitzer.lha  :-)

-edit-
the rom 1.2 don't support boot from hard disk. you boot from a floppy (or adf on uae) and this dirrect the boot to hd

hmm and you need a real amiga for the adf blitzer of course :-)

Amikit on top of a 1.3 rom? I think that it never work.
Also a bare 68000 even in winuae shouldn't be sufficient to cope with the requirements.

I can load ADF images on a virtual floppy reader? (for AMIGA OS 3.1) (like Alcohol 120% which emulates CD and DVD ISOs)
AMIGA 1200 with
- External FD Drive
- 527 Mb HD drive

I wish power up my AMIGA:
- AmigaOS 3.9 (upgrading wit CDROM drive, Blizard 1230IV and 56k modem)

Have a look at RawRead, DevBlocks and Transdisk for simple CLI-driven tools to read/write Amiga disks to/from real floppies and ADF images.

Note: any tools involving writing of Amiga disks will have to be run on a real Amiga (for obvious reasons regarding PC disk controllers).

Or, if you're serious about Amiga/PC disk transfer, you can buy a Catweasel - a PCI-based disk controller card that'll let you use a standard PC 1.44Mb drive to read/write Amiga disks.

Finally, has anyone tried getting AmiKit to run on real hardware? I'd be interested in the results...

I try it to my a3000 but because of having only 4mb fast ram and some specific uae tools of amikit that run at startup the a3000 was hanging quite early in the procedure... finaly i didn't have enough time to serch it ferther and i return her in the normal os3,9 state.
