A4000D IDE Question IDEfix97?
« on: January 15, 2006, 06:43:03 PM »
Howdy -

I am using the IDE interface that is built into
the A4000d motherboard.  Slow, yes, but handy?
Indeed.

1)Anyway, can this IDE interface controll both
a Hard Drive <> and ATAPI CD-ROM drive?
2)What are the limitations on this adapter?
3)And what is this software called IDEfix anyway?

Thanks for any insight into this great mystery.

yes you can use it for a Hard disk and CD-Rom at the same time, it's not tooo slow. You can make it quicker by using SmartFileSystem instead of FastFileSystem

I believe it can transfer around 1mb/s,

of course if you wanted more speed the Buddha Flash gives 2 IDE channels and up to 2.7 mb/s, not very expensive either.

I have one and would recommend it.

The Buddha Flash (Gold Ed) has IDEFIX drivers included to allow the access to upto 4 IDE Devices and as Robert17 has said, using SFS on your hard disks will give better performance
