AHI v6
« on: December 19, 2005, 07:25:19 PM »
I installed AHI v 6 as per instructions, everything is in it's right place, etc.

The thing is that when ever I load up an old copy of DigiBooster (from about 4 years ago) or about any other software for that matter, they all claim that AHI.device is not sitting there in devices which it is because I'm looking RIGHT at it!

Does my Amiga think it's a windows machine all of a sudden or what?

I've never had my Amiga tell me something is not that that actually is!

Run Snoopdos before you start DigiBooster and check if something is missing which AHI tries to load. Also check if you installed the correct version for your processor. E.g. the PPC versions won't work on 68k.

And check AHI prefs if you have choosen an existing audio mode for each unit.

Bye,
Thomas

@XDelusion

AHI v6 MorphOS (Pegasos) version works fine with DigiBoosterPro, so it should really work with AmigaOS aswell.

Are you absolutely sure you installed the new files properly?

Well, that too. (Well, naturally you need to run MorphOS on that PPC amiga :-))

What I really wanted to say is that the AmigaOS 68k version should be fine aswell, it's 99% the same code just compiled for different CPU.

I've also installed AHI v6.6 on my classic A4000D.
No problems here.

I remember the 5.x version was much more processor demanding, is this still the case with 6.x (probably even more...)
On classic systems with 060 or even 040 might be better to keep the 4.x version.

How exactly would I use SnoopDOS to check things, I've NEVER used SnoopDOS.

Start it, look at the "Functions" and check most of them, it's quite intuitive. Open and OpenDevice are probably most useful in this case.

When you do some things that you do not want to snoop, don't quit SnoopDOS, just activate "disable" button for a while.
So you have the strings in your palm. Do you know what they are for?
