Jaz drive on an Amiga???
« on: December 09, 2005, 03:05:24 PM »
I would like to put all the hardware drivers and other software I use for setting up my Amigas on a ZIP or JAZ drive. This way, I can plug in the Jaz and not have to to do the floppy shuffle. WIll the Amiga recognize the SCSI ZIP/JAZ drives without some special software?

The drive, yes, but the disks, no. If you want to share files with a PC you have to install FAT95 on the Amiga or at least create a CrossDOS mountfile for the drive.

Only if the disks are partitioned with HDToolbox and formatted using FFS, they will be recognised automatically. But then the disks are not readable by the PC.

@Thomas:

If they are partitioned and formatted on the Amiga, couldnt you use WinUAE to read them on the pc?

Yes, you can. You can even create a bootable partion and install an entire OS3.9 with all your hardware drivers on it. So you can have an emergency boot disk without the need of the slow and limited floppy + CD combination.
