Using 31khz modes with NEC Multisync II
« on: December 13, 2005, 08:22:43 AM »
Hi, I own a Nec Multisync II monitor and was wondering if I can use it with the higher resolutions on my A1200. According to http://www.monitorworld.com/Monitors/nec/multisyncii.html it seems to go up to 31khz. How can I use the 800x600 resolution and will it be flickerfree? I haven't dared to test myself because I am afraid I will fry the monitor.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Edit: I also found this: http://www.nec-display-solutions.com/coremedia/download/74916/MSII-UsersGuide-german.pdf
but as my german is not that good I do not understand everything. The switches on the back seem not to do anything. Are they PC only?

Hi Lauri, if it´s a multisync then it will probably be able to show pc resolutions. The best result I have seen so far is the screenmode Double Pal Hires No Flicker. It gives perfect stable picture on a pc monitor (also on multisync like my 1950 and 1942) and with Overscan you can expand the usable screen to 736x512 which is really wide for a standard A1200  :-o

Hi Lauri_t

I've been using an NEC MultiSync II on my on my A3000
for for a couple years. The 31khz output works great.
Depending on your flicker-fixer, the video should be
stable to whatever res your card can put out.
Its a good monitor, use it  :-)

Stealth ONE  8-)

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a scandoubler/flickerfixer but I copied a couple of 31khz monitors from the WB disks and got them to work, or at least sort of. The main concern is the wavelike distortion in the upper part of the screen on the pull-down menus. It seems like the screen is "rolling" like you roll a paper. It's hard to describe but I'll try to take some pictures later today. Another effect is a brown horisontal line on the right part of the screen
What could be causing these effects?
