Menus and public screens on OS4
« on: December 01, 2005, 12:43:51 AM »
If I set a program to use it's own screen in OS4, 'magic menu' stops working and the look of the GUI changes slightly.

Anyone else noticed this and know if there's a way around it?

Cheers,
Robert.

The "default" look of OS4's Workbench is in fact not the default for everything - what you're seeing on the new screen you open is the actual default.

Use the Screem preferences tool to define your new public screen. Give it the palette and GUI settings "Same as Workbench"

You can also set the <> screen setting to this, but some software might not like it (Wordworth, for example).

EDIT: Note that you'll need Update 3 and the Intuition update to be able to do this. Otherwise you'll need to manually set the preferences to ENV:Sys/gui.prefs or ENV:Sys/palette.prefs

@Matt:

Where is the screen prefs tool located?

I'm using update 3. Not sure about the intuition update. Is there a way to check?

@ Wilse

It's SYS:Prefs/Screens

The intutition update was the small download that included the original themes - The BeOS lookalike, the Workbench1.3 lookalike, etc.

You can determine if you have it installed or not by the version numbers of the GUI prefs and some libraries, but I don't know what those numbers are.

Cheers Matt,

I think I've solved that problem.

Now I have another one - memory card from my phone won't show up but
that's another story.....
