G-Force 040
« on: November 23, 2005, 04:30:01 AM »
I just picked up an A3000D-16 (2/16 MB ram) with a G-Force 040 installed. It's populated with (4) 1 meg GVP simms, although it has 8 simm slots on the accelerator.

Does anyone know the maximum amount of ram this board supports?  I assume it is just 8 megs, but I thought GVP had some larger modules later on. I wonder if expanding the memory on this board is worth the cost, if it's even still possible?

I did see that, however I was wondering if anyone has tried the 4 meg or larger GVP simms.

Thank You:-)

@Jeff:

This page says it only supports special 68-pin 1MB non-multiplexed 40ns simms. I do wonder about the 68-pin part though, do you have the possibility to count the pin-number on a simm on it? The reason I am wondering is that "regular" gvp-simms had 64 pins.

(edit):

No need to count on the real thing, I just counted the number of pins on the photo on the page I linked too and it is indeed 68-pin simms. Thus a "regular" gvp-simm wont even fit physically.
