socket for 68060

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a socket for the 060 footprint?  Or a generic one which would allow it to fit?

I'm thinking of upgrading a couple of 040 boards, and would like to socket rather than mess about with soldering the cpus

Looks like a 486 / overdrive socket.

Not sure how that works though - the 486 socket clearly has 4-pin holes missing in the bottom-left hand corner (if you orient the cpu so you can read the model no).  The 68060 I have (albeit an EC) has all of these pins in place.

Frustrating, as otherwise the 486 socket would be perfect for mounting on 040/060 boards.

Did kas1e melt some new pin-holes through the plastic?

Not to doubt that the project is for real, but I'd like to know how it was done - I don't think you can just 'not connect' these pins.

I do not question, merely seek enlightenment....

I don't remember what the 040/060 need exactly, but check on
http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T053/0308.pdf or http://www.mouser.com/?handler=data.listcategory&Ne=200&N=752 to see if anything looks right.

Ahhhhhh!
Many thanks - I thought the 060 was 4-pins wide on each side (I'm away from home at the moment), and thus would require all the lines of the socket, I stand corrected. :-)

Alternatively, what I was looking at as a desperate measure was butchering a non-working B1230 (for the 68882 socket), and using the outer single line of pins inside the 040 socket taken from a non-working A3040.  Thanks to ebay I have a few non-working amiga boards around - one of the side-benefits of getting ripped off by unscrupulous dealers   :-P

More work, but necessity being the mother of invention....

When I eventaully get around to it you will have saved me some extra work.
