AmigaOne Experience? Anybody
« on: October 11, 2005, 04:42:52 PM »
Hi -

Has anybody recently bought the Eyetech AmigaOne
motherboard?  How is it working out for you?  Just
wondering if I should shop around for another classic
amiga (Amiga Tech A4000T or something) or move along to
the next generation.  How about that OS4.0, huh?
Amiga 4000D/040 Warp Engine/SCSI-CD/Cybergraphic64/X-Surf
Amiga 1200T 060/60 PPC603e BVision and more
Amiga 1200 nice white case GVP1230/1291SCSI
Amiga 2500 stock 2630 GVP HC+8(4)CD-ROM

Right now the motherboard that Eyetech calls the AmigaOne is not available from any dealer, it may or may not ever become available again (two more weeks have come and gone a couple of times now).  A new board (Troika) sp?  is currently being worked which does not have the Articia part and thus will not have the bugs of the Amiga One caused by the Articia chipset.   OS 4.0 currently only runs on the AmigaOne board, in the future it may run on the Troika (thats its intended market) and may run on PPC accelerators in legacy Amigas.  At this time to run OS 4.0, you would need to wait for new boards to become available or buy a used one on Ebay.   Personally, I would wait until the current manufacturing situation gets handled before jumping into the OS 4.0 arena.
