@ KThunder,

I totally agree, the A1000 was my favorite design with the keyboard garage.  I still have mine w/Spirit Insider 1.5mb RAM expander, 105mb HD inside where DF0: used to be, and a Kwikstart ROM switcher.  I have not fired it up in years but will get it out again some day.  I also have another A1000 that was given to me that I plan to gut and build into a WinUAE super emulated Amiga like Kermit from Nova Designs did a couple of years ago (only better).

Then you two cannot be friends!!

Well, at the risk of being a "chat box" too, I'll ignore narayan's comment about who I can be friends with and also say that I am sure that with a little work, any Amiga can be programmed to turn on the coffee pot, or what ever he said it can't do.  I remember some software and hardware module switches to turn on and off electronic devices that were compatible with an Amiga controller shareware/freeware program.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Hello,
sorry i don't have a accelerator for sale, but i thought you might like to hear how far these old a1000's can be pushed.I have installed the following in mine:

DCE Viper 520CD  68020/33mhz,8M ram,3.0 roms(uses A1200 roms),and a 2.5" 540M ide HD.workbench 3.1
i have now added a Compact flash card to ide adapter, using a 512M compact flash card(these cards can be had up to 4+gig and 80x+ speeds!).
the CF is quite snappy, ultra low power draw, and works very well!i wish i could afford a nice 4 gig one.

i just recieved a laptop cdrom drive,24x with a ITX to IDE adapter, this too is about to be installed in the 1000,it will have to open toward the back tho, since thats the only place i have room for it.
I've also added a X-surf ethernet card to the side,i used a old trumpcard 500 expansion to do this, since inside these are basically 2 zorro connectors with a trumpcard scsi card plugged in,it was a natural to add ethernet this way.i managed to get it on the lan to the internet with miamiDX,surfing in Ibrowse2.3 all on this loaded down A1000!

its pretty ugly in 16 colors, but its quite snappy with the 020/33

i really wanted to add a old zorro 2 video card, but unfortunately i dont have any :(
i have no doubt it would work just fine tho!. it would also fix the 512K chip ram.luckily ibrowse can be set to run in all fastram to get by this limitation also.
a 2M megachip and ecs agnus/denise would really be sweet but thats no small hack. ;)

ram of course is at a premium!

why do all this? its a exercise in pushing old hardware basically, the A1000 is remarkably backward compatible with many newer addons, and works stable and flawless!.pretty good for something engineered in 85' or so.
same principle as the guys pushing c64's.

Mike

I would shudder to think Classic Amiga purists would even consider cutting up such a beautiful system like the A1000.   :-o
