.doomrc virus?
« on: October 06, 2005, 02:24:29 PM »
I'm wondering if anyone has had this appear.  I keep finding a file on my Sys: partition named ".doomrc".  I assume it is some virus or other.  Anyway, I keep deleting it but was curious where it's coming from (maybe an Amiga web virus?).

Hm, it sounds like a DooM (the game) startup script to me.

Yep. It's a Doom config file. Why it keeps ending up in SYS: is beyond me. For me, it always ends up in RAM:

I wish it would just stay put in DH1:Games/ADoom , though!

@Argus

Your network user configuration has home directory set to SYS:. Doom writes the configfile to $HOME, that is SYS: for you.

So it's user error, not a virus.

Ah, that makes sense.  I recently installed ADoom on the A2000 for my nephew to play while he and my brother were visiting.  Didn't know I had to config anything special.  That is a great Doom port I must say, it runs fast on only a 40MHz 030 in EHB mode.
