GFX/Sound Corruption With Mediator/Voodoo5/BlitzQuake Combo
« on: September 27, 2005, 01:47:41 PM »
I’m having a graphics and sound problem with the system in my signature. When I load blitzquake it has severe graphics corruption in the form of flickering triangles (tearing) which completely distorts the picture and the sound played is unrecognizable as game sound and it badly distorted as well.

After doing some research into the problem it was suggested that it my be resolved by closing the “wait” jumper on my Mediator but if I do this the system refuses to boot into Workbench and just hangs prior to the cards being initialized (right before you get a picture on the monitor). I’ve also tried disabling MMU and adding -lockmode smart to the Quake configuration but it’s still the same.

I know the sound card is setup correctly and working as I’ve played Genetic Species and listened to CD’s and mp3s through it under workbench so I’m 98% sure it’s a mediator/voodoo or quake setting issue. Unfortunately I do not have any other Warp3D games to test and see if it’s the same with them but I suspect it will be.

What I’m wondering is if the wait jumper will fix the problem, it’s just some other software problem is preventing the system going into workbench when the jumper is closed.

If needed I can post my Mediator Configuration file, just let me know.

It’s a shame Quake looks really smooth apart from the corruption, damn!

Thanks for any replies :-)
