Troika / BigBash / Whatev

Alright, probably flamebait yap yap bla bla, etc. Here goes.

Am I the only one disappointed by Troika's "unveiling"? I mean, what the hell was that? Why wait till probably the most anticipated Amiga gathering this year to just release specs? Havent we all had enough of the talk / agreements / blah about the BoXeR/ACK/OS4/ETC/ETC?

Dont get me wrong its great and all, but... WHAT AN ANTICLIMAX! We wanted to see maybe a protoboard, hacked up wires... ANYTHING HARDWARE! Just give us all a spark of hope that somethings being done thats *TANGIBLE* not simulated! All the best though I guess.

Video feed also had no audio, and audio / still image feed didnt work :(

EDIT: Written at 3am, caffiene withdrawl, etc. *sleep*

its easy to give out specs its even easy to mock up a prototype.
fact is though there are alot of people interested in new hardware. there are a of people who want to build new hardware. doing it though is another story.
we have had alot of promises we have also had alot of real hardware. not necessarily new motherboards.
expect little be content with what you have and encourage the dreamers even if you think they are inhaling a little more than clouds.
even if a new mobo came out tomorrow it would probably be either a.) too epensive or b.) tough to get because of low numbers made.
i just got a new mobo for my "amiga" it cost about $150 with cpu, cpu fan, and memory, but saying so is probably more flamebait
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

Please dont mention the Boxer ever again.

I had a special overclockable 060 chip in a drawer and 800 dollars saved for when it would have been released. Man was I hyped over it.

i must say i wanted to see some new amiga hw today as you others wanted, and i was a bit disappoint.

but no one have payed for anything, no one have lost money. trokia made a web page, and start a fuzz in the amiga community. it pretty much dont look like they got an aos4.0 licence or some working hw yet...

anyway i still sit on my fence and watching what is happening in the amiga world. i am in no rush what so ever, i am not gonna use any money on amiga hw, before i see a real good product that is working. in the meanwhile i have other computers that get the job done, the amiga is just a hobbycomputer like my c64. all we can do now is give troika time and see what happen..

i expected a 250(max350) + aos4.0 included in the price tag for this board... if not i will not get down from my fence...

I think the price on the Troika website is a worst-case scenario but I wouldn't expect it to be much lower unless the boards are produced in volume.  If they run Linux then Troika may get some volume bids from elsewhere in the industry and bring the price down.

I guess everyones still warm and fuzzy from their bigbash experience to bother flaming lol. I wish the 'oldskool' Amigans like Dave Haynie, etc would take part in the development of the new amiga boards; even if they just watch or yell YOU WILL ALL BURN IN THE FIRES OF HELL! - It'd make the wait a little easier and also renew confidence in the community. Would also make the new board more "Amiga'ish" in a way. But thats just my stupid wish I guess.
