A2000 Monitors Question
« on: September 19, 2005, 07:09:23 PM »
I have a NTSC A2000. Some of the software I've tried on it seems to be off center (basically too low down the screen with some disappearing off the bottom). Is there anyway to change the display to PAL, but putting something in the monitors drawer or do you have to get PAL hardware inside the case?

Is there any other way to rectify this issue?

Just curious.

Thanks

Depending on the motherboard rev and your Agnus there might be a jumper (J102) which is closed for NTSC and open for PAL. Probably the best solution is to install a switch.

Additionally you need a PAL compatible monitor to display the pic (afaik all C=/Amiga made could display both frequencies).

PS: beware of PAL interlaced w/o FF

Thanks for the answer. It's a Rev6 board. I will have a look for the Jumper you speak of. Monitor is a Commodore 2002.

You will not be able to use PAL mode with any real results, using an NTSC monitor.
The monitor may be your problem. 2002 monitors are not the best Commodore made. You would be much better off with an 1084 (S, D or ?).
I use a GVP graphics card in my A2000 to a SVGA monitor with great results. Software Hut still has a few of these cards left, I believe. This isn't the cheapest way out, but an excellent way to display very high res screens.
