Blizzard 1240 to 1260 - Any help please
« on: September 20, 2005, 06:28:03 PM »
Hello All,

I've just upgraded my Blizzard 1240 with an 060 CPU @ 50, thus making a 1260 of it.

After I did so, i've booted the system, which was installed before, but of course i placed the 68060.library 68040.library and 68040dummy in the libs folder.

The system, which is Amiga OS 3.9, boots up just fine and pretty fast BUT..

I receive error messages as soon as I try to run ANY program.
It does not matter what, it can be HDToolbox, Screenmode or whatever.

It gives me the error requester : system failed, reboot or suspend. 8000 0004...

If i choose reboot, of course i get a software error with the same Guru. If i choose suspend, the system still runs, but no program can be started.

I know that this guru means : Illegal CPU call or something like that, but at least it is an error message which is CPU related.

Now, to be sure, i replaced the 68060@50 with the 68040@40 again, and see there, the system runs perfectly again.

After many hours, and lots of cigarettes and aspirines, i thought that i might have found something.

When i run showconfig with the 68040@40 it says:
CPU 68040/68040 fpu/68040 mmu

When i run showconfig again with the 68060@50, after booting without startup sequence, it says:
CPU 68060/68060 mmu

Now i know that the 68060 has internal MMU and FPU.

So why is it missing, and could this be the reason, as for example an instruction called to the cpu, which would require an FPU, but the CPU being unable to do so???

Can anybody help me here???

Another victim of not being able to RTFM.

Ok, here goes:
Code: [Select]

I assume you've done more than just replacing the CPU itself? Such as installing a 3.3v regulator and moving the required jumpers?
