Having problems connecting to the NET with CNET and Genesis
« on: March 20, 2003, 10:53:19 AM »
Hi all, I have recently lost the use of my hard drive and am now in the processes of reconstructing my Amiga.

Everything is going well with the exception that I have been uunable to get Genesis to connect to my LAN. Basically I in my house we have a main Win2k server (ip 192.168.0.1) which is usings MS internet sharing.

I have setup my amiga, like before, with IP 192.168.0.8, have told it the gateway IP (as above) and setup iBrowse to run proxy off of 192.168.0.1. When I type in a web address it comes up with nothing, saying that it can't find a DNS entry or something. I am sure this is how I had it all done before, and it worked fine....

Need help please! :-(

/edit
I am able to ping both machines as well, so Genesis is on the network, I just can't get it to goto the internet

Did you tell genesis the addresses of the dns servers ? Probably same as the gateway addy unless you can use the ISP dns addys.

shouldnt need Ibrowse proxy at all.

Your amiga must have IP, gateway. subnet mask and dns servers set and you dont need proxy if you use MS ICS.

@Elektro

That seems to have done the trick! Thanks!

@All

Thankyou all for your help! BTW I would use miami if I could register the thing, as it stands I'll have to  use Genesis :-)

Cheers
