Kodak DCS 420 Digital Camera
« on: March 18, 2003, 06:27:19 PM »
Hi,

looks like I'm the kind of stupid person to post this message in the 'games' section first. Sorry!
Today I got myself a second hand Kodak DCS 420 Digital camera. Actually it isn't really a digital camera, it's a digital back for my Nikon N90 SLR camera. It's not really the most modern piece of equipment and it looks terrible, like someone has been playing football with it, but it works, and that's the main part. The thing has a scsi connector, So I was hoping I could connect it to my amiga. Could anyone give me any advice on how it's done? Does it need some sort of driver, or should I just make a mountlist for it? The problem is what do I put in the mountlist, I can't seem to figure out. It's recognised by the HDToolbox as 'Unknown' or whatever it is, and I know it is in working condition as I was able to test it with my PC, which also has scsi.

Thanks for your potential help,
Justin

;-) Try checking Aminet for drivers.  Also, there is a tool on Aminet called SCSIinquire, which polls your SCSI bus and tells you what hardware is on it.  This will also tell you which SCSI ID the device uses, if you're unsure otherwise.

I did already check aminet (first thing I did) but it only has drivers for the smaller kodak camera's. I can change the SCSI ID on the camera, so that isn't really a problem either.
I recall that there are a few commercial programs on the amiga for digital camera support, But I can't seem to recall their names.
Still, it should be possible to mount the camera like a hard disk, no? That would be easy? After all it's just a flashcard reader?
