Apple are wise not to release the specs with all the GHz-fans around.

I think whabang meant more like "technical documentation needed for porting an OS". But can Linux run on it, so can AmigaOS/MorphOS, right?

Any btw, an Apple is not really superior to an A1 or Pegasos - maybe Apple get the first pick of the PPCs, but there's not much else better... :-)

I wouldn't say that. Have a look at: http://www.apple.com/powermac/

On that page you can see the following specifications: The powermac comes with either dual G4 @ 1.25GHz or dual G4 @ 1.42GHz. It has better memory bandwith than the Articia, up to 2 GB of high-speed DDR SDRAM can be used. It has one FireWire 800 port, two FireWire 400 ports. It also has Gigabit ethernet. Finally, it has AGP 4x.

You can also read: "What’s more, FireWire, PCI expansion and Gigabit Ethernet are integrated directly into the main system controller, reducing latencies and providing superior I/O performance."

Looking at the specs, I would say that Apple is pretty much superiour to both the A1 and the Pegasos1. It is *a lot* more expensive too, of course! ;-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

my ideal A1 system would be:

At least 800MHz G4
512Mb Ram
80Gb Hard Drive
Best ATI GFX card that OS4 supports
CD-RW drive (maybe DVD-RW if and software turns up for one!)
Best Creative Sound card that OS4 supports (pref 5.1+)

If I think of anything else I'll add it!

Not that I can get this system till end of the year, but what the hay, fun to imagine! :-)

DESKTOP case (why do people put $3000+ in something that could fall over????)

I agree! Also I think that a DT case looks more, well, Amiga like!

Hello Agafaster,

Just IMAGINE the looks on their faces when they/you see an AmigaOne boot off of a 16 Meg Compact Flash card with NO CD-Rom or Harddrive!!!!!!  :-D * 16,000,000

It could feed off of the ethernet port from the WWW!

I gotta quit giving these ideas away!

AmigaOne! ......Priceless!!!
\\"Which would you buy? The Crappy A1200, 15 years out of date... or the Mobile Phone that I have?\\" -- bloodline
So I guess that A500, 600, 1000, 2000, CDTV, CD32, are pure garbage then? Thanks for posting here.

Ofcourse I don't know what to do with the surplus of RAM , but it's fun to have it.

theres nothing wrong with having more than what you can use... its sure better than not having enough, eh?
