Particular A2000
« on: June 22, 2005, 09:20:19 AM »
I am wondering about a particular model of A2000;
here's what a saw: 2x3.5 floppy's, 1x5.25 floppy, bridgeboard with a AMD 80286 CPU (don't recall exactly the speed, 6, 8, or 10 Mhz); as it doesn't have a HDD or HDD controller, I'm pretty sure it has a 1.3 Kick; since it's been some time since I opened it, I don't recall exactly the size of RAM, the versions of Kick and Fat Agnus or the mobo issue; but i'm certain it's a PAL machine, since the owner got it from Swiss

Here in Holland A2000's could be bought "custom built" much like today's PC's.
I know I bought my miggy I wanted the bridgeboard and a hard card, the dealer fitted them for me and I could pick the machine up later that day.

It is just a standard 2000 with options added, the only other ones where the 1500 (UK only, bare machine, 2 floppy drives, black front label), the 2500 with either a 2620 or 2630 and either a 2090a or 2091.

A2000s were fully "customizable" so I don't think you can found any version with these features "by default".

For example, today my A2000 has the same parts (two 3,5" floppies and PC bridgeboard) but, at the beginning, it was a simple, classic and "poor" A2000 with one floppy drive and none additional boards inside  :-D

Well, the present owner really has no knowledge about miggies (I think he got the 2000 as a present from one of his Swiss friends), and he asked me if it is PC compatible; at first, I said "no", but after I opened it and saw the bridgeboard I changed my opinion;
So it is very probable that I might take it of his hands, to join my 500 and 1200;
He already gave me a 1084S, non-functional, but I think I might be able to repair it;

Btw, he also has a A1010; wadda hell it was needed for, since the 2000 already had 2 internal floppy's?  :-?
