Did you remove the A1000 shielding to make room for a 3.5 inch drive or is there enough squeeze room?

Hi,

Yup.  The shields of all of my machines were removed and never put back in.  I spent too much time 'under the hood'.  8-)

Okay...I was in the Bay Area on a consulting gig, so I stopped in HSC and picked up a 1 gig hard drive.  I installed it in the A1000 and the AdIDE partionning software crashed each and every try.  While the manual said up to 2 gig partitions were fine, I went ahead and tried splitting it in two....bingo...A1000 hard drivey goodness!  Installed Battle Chess and can now play without endless floppy seek times.  Of course, having the two partitions mounted seems to chew up about 420k extra memory...which seems a bit much....but it works, and I'm sure I can find a Starboard II somewhere...
