help with 80 pin scsi and the adaptor

i just got a 80 pin scsi hardrive and a 80 pin to 50 pin adaptador but the hd and the adaptador has a lot of jumpers and i was wonder wich one i have to use

You haven't said what your SCSI controller is.
I've had NO luck getting an 80 pin drive to work
on my A3k SCSI or my WarpEngine SCSI.
Some of the older controllers won't look at a drive
bigger than 1 gig and some comtrollers even less.

I have used a 80 pins harddrive together with my WarpEngine SCSI controller, and it served me well.

Google for your harddrive to find the SCSI ID settings, and you will be a big step further at getting the drive to work.

On my IBM drives I have the ID set to 0 and the terminator jumper closed.

I have an 18G 80pin drive on my A4000's TrexxII controller (it uses the same NCR chip as the Warpengine, iirc).  Works like a charm.  iirc you set the scsi id number and termination using the little daughterboard 50pin/SCA-80pin adaptor.  You probably also have to use an active/passive terminator at the ends of the scsi chain. In my case, the GVP has active termination on the board itself.
