My first (working) PPC card
« on: June 07, 2005, 09:58:27 PM »
My first PPC card arrived today in the mail.
A Cyberstorm PPC  :-)
Have thrown it into my A4000 mirage tower, installed OS3.9 on a 1.2gig HD and Warp OS (from the OS3.9 cd) and then both boing bags.
Is there a quick way to check that the PPC side is working correctly (with no RTG card etc)?
I've installed WarpDT PPC picture data type for PPC and opened some jpeg files and it works.
I also tried Whichamiga 1.3.3 but it didn't show any PPC but maybe it's not suppose to either.
Now when I finally have a card which is suppose to work I want to test it quickly before I shout hurray

A bunch of ol' A500's

One thing you could do is to download Idlewos from Aminet. It'll show you when the PPC is working. :-)

Mainframe: Amiga 3000 Tower, CSPPC233/060, 144+2MB, 36GB UW, Prometheus, Voodoo5 5500, 10Mbit, 24xCDr, OS 4.0 ....Amiga since 1987.

Oh..forgot to tell you guys how it's going.
Have to say it's working almost perfect except for a couple of
WarpOS crashes but that's life!  :-D
Quake II runs very nice...thought it would give me a headache right away but I haven't changed anything software wise to get my PPC games/software to run properly..guess I have for the first time some luck with my first try outs with new hardware in my amiga

Indeed...just wish there were more software around to take advtantage of the PPC, OS4 Classic makes me mouth water  :-P
Have a Voodoo 5500 in my Mediator board, SB128 for sound and a 100mbit network card which I can't remember the brand on.. :-?
And a 4.3 gig 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda SCSI drive connected to the UW SCSI interface on the CS PPC...can tell you that 4.3gig get full too fast after some games like Quake II
Have a 9.1gig 10000rpm drive here but I'm too lazy at the monent to plug it in
