CyberVisionPPC error
« on: March 13, 2003, 01:57:33 PM »
Hi!
I've a problem with my CVisionPPC card that I hope some one can help me with.

The problem is as follows:

When I boot my amiga I get output through the cvsisionppc och I get the output from the CyberStormPPC through the cvision alson (yes it still comes through tve RGB also). When workbench loads the output through the cvision stops but this is not the problem. The problem is that i can't get the cvision to work in workbench. Showcgxconfig can't find the card and showconfig and expansion boards in the Earlyboot menu can't find it too.

Do you have a solution of the problem? Or is the cvsision broken? Is is something more you kneed to know to solwe the problem?

 :-?

To the best of my knowledge, neither the BVision or CVision cards show up in the early startup menu, so don't worry about that too much.

The later libraries for the PPC hardware capture the native video and redirect it though the card so you can boot without a 15KHz monitor attached. If you can see the early startup on the monitor attached to your CVision, its unlikely to be a broken card.
Note, however, the redirection of the early startup screen doesn not depend on having the correct video drivers installed for you card.

I suspect this, or an incorrect driver tooltype/env var  is where your problem lies.

I assume you're using CyberGraphX because, as far as I know, Picasso96 still does not have a driver for the CV-PPC.  So, it would help to know what version of CGX software you are running?  Have you download the latest available from the http://www.vgr.com/cgx web site ??   It's currently at v4.3 beta RC5.  I use it on my A4000T, and it works great.  Just for giggles, even though you get output from it before Workbench starts, you could always try removing and reseating the CV-PPC on your accelerator.

I dunno about cgxinfo butthey don't show in the early startup - I think it's because they aren't Zorro devices. They sit on the PPC cards own gfx bus which is some sort of mini PCI thing.

It's quite possible that they won't show up unless the drivers are correctly installed.
