If I remember correctly I installed a 500 floppy in my 3000. I may have had to do a slight modification to the cabel but I can't remember because that was a long long time ago.

good luck.

If you use chinon mechanisms, they will fit.

Also the eject button can be swapped out of the A3000 drive.

A2000 and A4000 chinons might also need a little bit of the outside cover snipped from the top edge in order for it to fit, in addition to removing the face plate. (at least the A500 does, the last time I owned an A3000 was 7 years ago..)

For testing purposes can I simply take a Amiga 2000 (Chinon) drive and plug it into an Amiga 3000 with the case off? I just want to first identify if the drive is even bad.

Thanks,

Various drives have been delivered from C=, but I believe the Chinon FB-354 is the most common in both the A500 and the A3000.
If your A500 drive is indeed a Chinon FB-354, then all you need to do is move swap the eject button over, and stick it in.

As for the A2000 drive, yes you can hook it up to your A3000 and test it, don't worry, it won't blow up (well, it shouldn't...). Chances are this drive is a Chinon FB-354 as well... but it will work regardless of what brand it is.

They all mix and match just fine. You only need to pay more attention when installing DF1 with DF0 where you have to insure pinouts are strapped correctly to assign each drive.

Add a Budda controller and you have the option to attach two IBM high density floppy drives to your miggy that can read most any floppy disk made.

You mean a Buddha S-Class with the built-in Catweasel controller, not the regular Buddha.

A Kylwalda would be nice for that too, so you can connect the drives to the Amiga and the Catweasel at the same time.
