Hi,
in the motherboard of an A3000T, there are two small holes behind every PLCC socket. They are filled with solder, but it is very easy to desolder them using a sniffer to suck the solder away. I use small nails to press the chips out of the sockets and it works very good (and is much cheaper than an extractor, that is nearly as expensive as most of the custom chips).
If it is too late and you already have a broken socket, it could be fixed by stretching a wire or a cable binder around the socket that holds it in form (works great for me).
