seeing partitions in wb3.1
« on: March 24, 2005, 10:32:06 PM »
Hi peeps great forum, I have built myself an amiga 1200 tower with an idefix board fitted with registerd software, I have a 6gig 3.5" drive fitted partitioned into 4 1.5 gigs, the trouble i'm having is I can only see two partitions when I boot up if I go into dopus4 and type dh2: or dh3: and then close dopus the drives appear and work fine. How do I setup to see all drives when I first boot, do I have to create a mount file ? I wouldn't have thought I did but its been along time since i've used the amiga

thanks

Check your Dopus4 version... http://dopus.free.fr/

Latest version available seems Directory Opus 4.17 Pre 21

"listers should work on partitions bigger than 2GB now"
(since Dopus 4.16 beta 2 and beta 3).

Personaly, i use "ecodisk" program (Morphos and AmigaOs 3.1) that's very cool too...

Hi,

start HDToolBox, select a drive and one of the partitions that doesn't appears after the Workbench is loaded.
Select the button "Change..." (used to change the filesystem of the partition). Now a dialog should open, where you can set some properties for the filesystem of the partition. Here is a checkbox named "Automount this partition". This must be checked!

MAke sure the volumes have a disk.info icon on the root of each new partition to view them on Workbench. Copy the one from DH0, to the other partitions to see them.

What's in your NSDPatch.cfg file (if exists), what's in your NSDPatch line in startup-sequence (include in Setpatch in later WB like 3.5/3.9) ?

You confirm your hardisk has been installed with HDToolbox (WB3.1) only ?

I think your problem is the drive is over 4 gigs.
OS 3.1 can only see 4 gigs with FFS (fast file system).

If you setup partitions to 4 gigs and just forget the
rest it should probably work.

In order to use the whole drive you will have to change
file systems to Smart File System (on Aminet I think)
or PFS (a commerical file system (I think)).
