« on: March 20, 2005, 03:41:40 PM »
Hi first post :)

I have just picked up a 500+ and have finished restoring her to new but the only thing that is bugging me is the Discoloured keys.

is there anything i can do to bring the keys back the there white and gray look instead of the cream they have now become?

Anyone know of something that actually works

here a pic

Thanks guys

Hi i have tried several thing too restore the colours but so far not much first i tried spirits, nope hardly works then i removed some of the keys and tried stronger thinners like the one found in paint powerfull stuff, witch i will not sugest it worked in some ways but not good enugh so i tried something even more powerfull(stupidity took over)and ended upp with melted plastics. i would sugest remove one key get the finest sandpaper available  and try to rubb it off were you cant notice. if it works its go time if not make sure you have runbbed on a place were it is not too visiable..

sorry i could not help you more..

I looked on there site but there is nothing there.

I didn’t really wont to spend to much on it and was hoping there would be a way to restore it myself.

There is also the problem that the 500+'s keyboard is slightly different to the 500's one "2 extra keys” so it may be hard to find a new one as they are rare anyway

Hi M Pro

I think you will find that the 500 and 500+ are identicle in keyboards. I have both models and because I broke the case on the 500+ I had to use a 500 case. Keyboard fits just fine.
It's not the question, that is the problem, it is the problem, that is the question.

It will fit but its missing the two keys that the 500+ has but the 500 doesn’t have “one next to the left shift and one nest to the return”

I’m trying to have it looking like new so it will have to be a 500+ keyboard  :-(
