Catweasel and C-One now in stock and shipping!
« on: February 22, 2005, 10:07:20 PM »
Everyone that ordered them should have received a shipping notification today :-D

I have a limited amount of Catweasels left in stock, and one C-One in stock after all orders have been shipped. If you are interested in immediate delivery, act now. For the C-One contact me directly, for the Catweasel use eBay's checkout.

Enjoy:-D

I forgot to ask: is Jens shipping these with low-profile backplates? I've just realized that every card I'm using in my PCI busboard is low-profile. . . .

EDIT: And have Christian Hattemer and Chris Hodges updated cw-keyboard? (Or does it just work? Haven't seen MK4 internals yet.)

Got my ship notification, thanks.

Any word on the Prommy drivers?  I saw Mr. Schoenfeld asking around about OpenPCI stuff lately, I imagine that is related?  Maybe the recent release of v2 means something :-)

So how is the SID support on the new model? I haven't read much on it. Is it there for the coolness factor alone? I have a ton of old SID songs somewhere...

I think the HardSID cards win in the pure SID coolness category, but the SID support in the Catweasel gets the emulation nod, as it supports paddles on the joystick ports. Actually, joystick ports and support for paddles as MIDI controllers would be a nice feature for the HardSID cards. I'm getting off topic.

I've never put a SID chip in my MK3, but I hear it works great. But even with two SID chips, the MK4 appears to be designed for the emulation enthusiast rather than the musician.

With the C-One you don't need to have the Catweasel in order to use a SID.  The C-One has two spots on the motherboard for SID chips.  Only the left channel is currently supported by the 64.  Works great with C64 software.  Just like it does on an original...I've had my C-one running about a month now.  Amazing little computer.

The C-One sounds very interesting. Another item I haven't read much on, though. So.... a C64 at the original clock speed or can it offer an accelerated C64 also? Wouldn't need one of those SuperCPU's anymore, I suppose.

The processor board included with C-One has a 20 MHz 65816 (like the SuperCPU--don't know if it's exactly the same processor), but the current C64 core disables it. I wonder if Jeri has plans to update the core to provide access to the 65816 in a SuperCPU-compatible way?

Hi,

It comes with a full size and two low profile backplates. There are two low profiles as one has a screw slot on the left hand side, the other on the right, to suit multiple types of low profile cases.

Regards,

Sweet. Though when you said two, I was hoping for one for the card and one for the second joystick port. :-) But a low-profile backplate for a 9-pin serial port should work.
