I think the technical term is Personal computer or just "PC", often pronounced "Pea Sea".

-Edit- Karlos beat me to it :-D

Once again I am guilty of being too literal.  I thought the Amiga was a personal computer. :-)

The Amiga was a "Home Computer"

I don't know, PC originally meant Personal Computer, that is a one computer for one person.

However PCs generally mean x86 architecture machines these days.

Originally there was the IBM-PC
Then there were IBM Clone PCs
Then IBM Compatible PCs
Then just PCs.

Funny thing is The Mac as always technically been a PC but these days with IBM selling off their PC division and macs using G5s you could say a PowerMac is an IBM compatible PC!

I would just say PC,
x86 is equally valid since all the derivations started from the original x86.

My home PC's Windows installation is called Ferris.  The FreeBSD install is called Jar Jar.

Now that I'm apparently past the teething stages of getting stuff I want to work with FreeBSD, I might change that name, but it certainly deserved it for a while.

So what do you call all of IBM's microcomputer descendants and spinoffs?

PC clones (Compaq, HP, Dell, etc...).  Just like Apple had its decendents, the Mac clones (Power Computing, DayStar, StarMax, etc...).

I call them heaps of sh** myself.
For example:

Sucker: "I've just had to do another re-install. computer has messed up again :( "
Me: "Did you not have protection?"
Sucker: "Yea but it still managed to mess up"
Me: "Why are you STILL using that heap of sh** after all the years upgrading and constant virus attacks and spyware infests?"
Sucker: "Coz I need Microsoft"

LOL.

Spirituality is for people who have been there.
